Qymish people

The Qymish people, or simply Qymish, are the largest ethnic group native to Qym. Worldwide, approximately 200 million people are of Qymish descent, making them one of the largest ethnic groups. Qymish people represent 83.7% of the population in Qym, 11.4% of the population in Imendia and 4.1% of the population in Gosaria.

Qymish people are considered to be the descendants of the Byrakans and the Sukats, but also other tribes that inhabited the Qymish territories during the late antiquity period, such as the Ottelians. The history of the Qymish as an ethnic group began with the separation of Northern Sukatia from the Sukats Kingdom, resulting in the formation of the Duchy of Qym in 1100.

Exonyms

The Qymish endonym Qymaja is derived from the Byrakan word Qiim giving the name to Qym, meaning "land of squirrels". Due to the lack of Q or Y sounds in many languages, various exonyms were created to refer to Qym and its people.

In Pamil, Qymish people are known as ᨀᨎᨈᨙᨃᨖ Khîmu.

In Genonian, Qymish people are known as 𐑙𐑰𐑥𐑪𐑯 Ĥîmân.
