Methelor, officially transliterated as Međelor, is a sovereign state in Visala. It is a great power and was one of the main belligerents in the Austral War. It borders VISALA3 to the east, VISALA4 to the west, and VISALA5 to the south, with the NAME OCEAN to the north. Methelor has a population of about 142 million, of which a fifth live in the Wamping metropolitan area, the third most populous metropolitan area on Basis, with other major cities being Heremal, Dasundi and Yotts.
Settlement in the territory of modern Methelor began in the Middle Paleolithic, with various tribes inhabiting it from the Neolithic onward, chiefly the Methii peoples from which the country derives its name.

Methelor has an advanced market economy that is the largest in Visala and on Basis by nominal and purchasing power parity-adjusted GDP. Methelor is the largest importer of goods on Basis and the second largest exporter after Qym. Wishumba, Qym, VISALA2, VISALA3 and Thyon are its main trading partners. The Methelorian trade balance is in deficit, particularly with Qym. In 2440, the public debt of Methelor was the highest on Basis at over $NUM trillion.
Several factors explain the strength of the Methelorian economy: Methelor is rich in mineral and agricultural resources. It is a coastal country well-served by a diverse and extensive transportation network. The population is fairly cosmopolitan, mobile, and well-educated. The standard of living is high on average, even though significant social inequalities exist. The seng and the Methelorian language have also achieved international prominence.
