Salmony (Salmian: Սալմօնփ, IPA: /θɪ:ɔ̃n/), officially the Kingdom of Salmony, is a country in the continent of Meran on the planet Basis. It borders Chiyan to the north. Salmony is a unitary state, divided into 13 counties. The capital city is Gosin, and the largest city is Oppina.
Salmony is a member of the Basis Forum. It is also a member of the International Trade Federation and the Basis Climatic Organization. Salmony is a developed country.
History
Settled by Thyo-Merinese tribes in 2400 BCE, who expanded south from present-day Chiyan.
Salmony was historically fought over between the Cunerians and the Ottelians and their successors Thyon and Prugundy. The question of influence over Salmony was settled during the War of the Salmian Succession, where Thyon intervened on behalf of the Fosetians (House of Foset), the historical rulers of Salmony, against the Prugundians. Thyon won, and the subsequent Treaty of Vulapois guaranteed the sovereignty of Salmony and included the country in Thyon's sphere of influence.
Following the Prungundian Revolution and civil war, Republican activity increased in Salmony. Fearing a revolution in Salmony followed by Chiyan, Thyon intervened to ensure Prugundy did not support any Republican activity in Salmony. Instead, Thyon pushed Salmony to adopt a code of fundamental rights, in order to retain an ally to the south.
