Geno (IPA: /dʒɛno/; Genonian: 𐑡𐑧𐑯𐑭, Ĝeno), officially the Transhumanist Republic of Geno, is a country in the continent of Visala on the planet Basis.

Geno covers TBD square kilometers, and is the ??th-largest country in Basis by land area. With a population exceeding 83 million, Geno is the ??th-most populous country in Basis. Its capital and largest city is Utopia, a planned city.

Geno is an authoritarian one-party state with a government led by the Transhumanist Party (THP). The country's official ideology is Transhumanism, a doctrine based on eugenics and natalism developed by DUDE. This transhumanist regime operates according to a totalitarian logic and has one of the lowest levels of human rights in Basis, according to SOME HUMAN RIGHTS NGO.

Geno is a middle-income country, with ??th-largest economy in Basis by nominal GDP and the ??th-largest by purchasing power parity (PPP). International sanctions have forced Geno to develop a robust domestic market for most goods. It is considered to be a regional power in Visala and a middle power throughout Basis.

Antiquity (471 BCE–431 CE)

Proto-Genonian tribes move in from somewhere else, while empires/kingdoms control the area. Geno is not a cradle to any civilization though.

Early Genonian kingdoms (431–1127)

Various small kingdoms exist in present-day Geno. Most are polytheist or some other religion.

Rise of Anist states (1127–1771)

Neighboring Anist states come in and kill a lot of people, spreading the one faith.

Dynastic era (1771–2102)

Various Anist royal families from the region control Geno at this time. Could also be part of some large empire.

Kingdom of Geno (2102–2268)

Breakaway Kingdom following some war; could be a foreign power's protectorate. Single Genonian royal family rules until 2268 and they suck, with the population remaining poor. Big diaspora starts in that era. Genonian language and national identity is established a bit like French/Italian.

Genonian Revolution (2268–2328)

Main article: Genonian Revolution

Revolution against the monarchy; establishment of democracy and a modern state. Heavy focus on modernizing and adopting international customs creates tension with traditionalists. Diaspora continues but slows down in the 24th century.

Transhumanist Revolution (2328–present)

Main article: Transhumanist Revolution

Modernist revolution led by "10th President"/"Mustache Guy" after being elected democratically. Changes the country's official name and constitution, and then they do a lot of fucked up shit. Rise in quality of life and population, though, but at a heavy human cost.

Considered a pariah state globally, Geno does not have diplomatic relations with most countries.

Some countries, including Qym, have designated the Transhumanist Party as a terrorist organization.

Military

Military service is required for all male citizens and is fixed at age 22 after which they serve for two years, followed by reserve duty until age 70. Conscientious objections are not recognized and there is no civilian alternative to military service.

In 2440, Geno's military expenditure totaled approximately $82.25 billion, or around 17.3 percent of the country's gross domestic product, placing it ?th for military expenditure worldwide.

Human rights

Geno's human rights record is considered one of the worst in the world. Humans rights are supposedly guaranteed, subject to fulfillment of the citizens' duties to Protect the Future, as enshrined in the constitution.

A Genonian man's duty is to protect his country's future through military and community service. Men must serve in the military for two years from age 22 to age 24 and be on various forms of reserve until age 70.

A Genonian woman's duty is to protect her country's future through childbearing and community service. Women must minimally give birth to 3 abled citizens during their most fertile period between age 24 and age 42.

LGBTQ+ rights are non-existent as the constitution only recognizes two gender identities, men and women, and one sexual orientation, heterosexual. Sexual minorities are treated as mentally ill people and either go through conversion therapy or forced sterilization.
