Polamdi (Thyonese: Ֆիպօ), officially the Imperial City of Polamdi, is the capital city of Thyon and the thirteenth largest city of Thyon, with an estimated city population of 575,478 in an area of ### km², and a part of the Imperial Capital Metro area. 2440. Polamdi is located on the Auser Plain, north of Fepo. The city is the seat of the Archon of Thyon, the Imperial Thyonese government, and hosts a significant share of the Imperial Thyonese public service.
Polamdi is a planned capital, which was created in 1871 as the imperial capital of the newly formed Thyon. Polamdi was built from 1871 to 1896, including construction of the Imperial Palace and the Palace of the Federal Assembly. The capital was placed on the border of the kingdoms of Thyon and Merin, with each ceding land to the new Imperial government.
Polamdi is an officially bilingual city, with all public signage and communications occurring in the two official languages: Thyonese and Merinese.
Polamdi is directly administered by the Imperial Government, through the Department of the Imperial Capital.
Polamdi has faced significant challenges in establishing a diversified economy since its founding. Located a significant distance away from both the major capital cities of Fepo and Khapo, and in a region which was relatively sparsely populated prior to becoming the capital. As such, it remains only the thirteenth largest city in Thyon, and relies heavily on employment in the imperial public service and the military.
