Pum of Walambi, also known as Pum, son of Voson and Shamel, is a major historical figure and the founder of Ānism. Ānists consider him a messenger of God and the true prophet of monotheism. His religious biographies recount that he taught his first companions the verses of the Fumbas, which he presented as the very word of God, transmitted to him by the Sandesin.
Ānism and the importance of Ānist culture have influenced various civilizations, making Pum a prominent figure in the history of Basis. Nevertheless, his historicity is debated by some modern historians, who cite the scarcity of historical sources and the biases of traditional religious sources, rendering any historical biography impossible. Furthermore, the information contained in these sources has evolved over time, presenting differing views of Pum.

Pum's family originated in POLITY.
Birth
Pum was born on the 26th day of the 5th month in the year 280 BCE in Walambi, a city of which his uncle was the governor, in the land of POLITY, present-day COUNTRY. His mother, Shamel, having gone to pray on Mount Pum, named him after it.
Family
According to tradition, his father, Voson, was a descendant of Todem, chancellor to Agamem, a king of POLITY. A military commander in the POLITY, Voson married Shamel, then 17, as his second wife at the age of 76. He died when Pum was only five years old, leaving his family impoverished. Shamel sought financial help from Voson's brother, Haron, who was governor of Walambi and took them in.

Physical appearance
According to the Fumbas, Pum was exactly seven feet and a half tall, which is equivalent to 1.875 meters. This tall stature came from his father, who himself measured over 1.8 meters. The average height of Visalian men in his era was around six feet and a half, equivalent to 1.625 meters, making Pum taller than most men of his time by a foot. He was often described as being "a head taller than other men" in traditions and historical sources.
