History
Chronology
- Stone Age (before 8000 BCE): Early humans arrive (or were already there?)
- Neolitic (c. 8000 BCE – 5000 BCE): Early farming societies emerge in the Auser civilisation and Neolitic Ottelia.
- Copper Age (c. 5000 BCE – 2400 BCE): TBD
- Bronze Age (c. 2400 BCE – 1000 BCE): Development of writing, cities, and dynasties in the Auser civilisation and Ottelia
- Iron Age (c. 1450 BCE – 350 BCE): The Byrakans establish large, fortified, town-like settlements in Northern Meran. The Cunerian Empire is founded and wages wars against the Byrakans and the Ottelians.
- Middle Antiquity (c. 350 BCE – 395): The Cunerians and Ottelians dominate Southern Meran. The Ottelians control most of Eastern Meran and conquer Northern Meran following the Byrakan Wars.
- Late Antiquity (395 – 1100): After the Great Meranian War, the Sukats dominate Northern Meran and expand throughout Meran.
- Medieval period (c. 1100 – 1800): Fragmentation of Sukatia which breaks up in the Eastern and Western Sukatian Empire.
- Post-medieval period (c. 1800 – c. 2200): Holaria, Prugundy, Qym and Thyon emerge as dominant powers in Meran. End of this era marks the end of absolutism, except in Qym where it endures.
- Industrial/Modern (c. 2200 – Present): Holaria invades Tamodia, starting the Boreal War.

Politics
The political map of Meran has been unchanged since the end of the Boreal War in 2340. Of the 17 (+3 to add) sovereign states in Meran, 15 are democracies – of which 7 are constitutional monarchies and 8 republics – and 2 are absolute monarchies.
Meranian integration is the process of political, regional and economic integration of Meranian states and has been pursued by the powers sponsoring the Meranian Diplomatic League since the end of the Boreal War.
Among the smaller Meranian organizations are the Organization of Sukatic Nations, etc.
The least democratic countries in Meran are Imendia and Qym, the two remaining absolute monarchies on the continent. However, both countries rank high in the Basis Rights Index and the Basis Moral Freedom Index.
